The Roubaix Ride
Our spring classic in our 50th year promises to be a great day next Sunday…the ride starts at 9am with a group leaving together from the Grove Bar at 9am and riding together until we ride past the Cummins home in Kilcoole with a split for the two distances taking place on the road to Newcastle.
This year on our fourth edition the course has been tweaked slightly on last year by the evil route-master himself, Dave Peelo who will lead the first group over an 81km course .
Group 2 will ride a 64km course being led by Patrick Bradshaw and it also features a few new twists to keep us on our toes.
A brief food stop will take place near Annamoe with a soup and a sambo for everyone back in the Grove watching the end of the Paris-Roubaix race until about 3.30pm.
The event proceeds will be donated to a suicide charity to be announced on the day.
We will also hold an easy tour at 10am so those who may not feel able to take on the route can still be part of the day on their return around 1.30pm…
Bring a cycling buddy on the day as guests are most welcome…a fun day for all in memory of one of our own.
For those wishing to down load the map for their Garmin we will have it on the club site on Thursday night.
